Coffee is a complex beverage composed of a medley of many different flavors and scents. For many, it can be difficult to distinguish or describe the difference between many of these flavors. Recently, the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) redesigned their previously published coffee flavor wheel; this project was motivated by both the need to update the flavors presented on the wheel, as well as aesthetically redesign the wheel itself.
I love the way that they have designed this pictograph because it is extremely intuitive; in order to find the flavor that you are trying to describe, all you need to do is look in the center of the wheel to find the general category of the flavor. From there, you can continue to radiate outwards, finding more and more specific terminology for the flavor you are trying to describe.
I think that this pictograph more than succeeds in communicating and organizing this abstract concept of flavor. You can find the image below:
